SG1 was offworld and Hammond had been called to Washington when Jonas learned he had a visitor. He greeted the man in the conference room, taking a seat, smiling like he always did when meeting new people.
Colonel Frank Simmons just stood there, staring Jonas down.
"Mister Quinn, what exactly happened on Kelowna? The details are sketchy regarding Doctor Jackson's death."
"I...it was all in the report I gave. The reactor was about to go into overload and Doctor Jackson fixed it. He gave up his life for the Kelownan's."
"And just why did *he* do this? You were there also."
"I was..." Jonas swallowed hard. "...afraid."
"You were afraid. I see. Yet you want to continue your work here at the SGC." Jonas nodded. "Now, what happens if there's a similar accident here? Will you allow someone, say Major Carter, to die as you did Daniel Jackson?"
"No."
Colonel Simmons smirked. "How can we believe you?"
"Because I told you."
"Okay. I'd like you to come to Washington with me to discuss this further."
Jonas agreed freely, thinking that this would be a good way to cement his newfound 'citizenship'.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Lou Ferretti was walking past Jonas' lab when he saw him gathering some notebooks together.
"Where are you going?" Lou asked.
"Washington DC."
"Excuse me?"
"The Colonel said they wanted to talk to me further."
Lou was confused, knowing Jack was offworld. "What Colonel?"
"Simmons."
"Frank Simmons? You can't go with him."
"But he asked me to. If I can explain my work...."
"Jonas, did anybody tell you about the NID?"
"No."
"You'll never make it to DC, I guarantee it. You have to stay here."
"And just why is that Major Ferretti?"
Lou turned, seeing Simmons and two SF's.
"What are you playing at *Colonel*?" The rank was said with distaste. "And do either General Hammond or Colonel O'Neill know that you're here?"
"Mister Quinn and I have some business, which does not include you."
"I think it's Doctor Quinn," Lou told him.
"Whatever. Now, unless you'd like to find yourself under arrest, I would suggest you get out of my way." Lou stood his ground and Simmons narrowed his eyes. "Remove Major Ferretti."
Lou put his hands up as the two SF's came near. "Yeah, okay, I'm leaving." He rounded the corner and almost flew to the observation room, having a word with Walter Davis.
Jonas had watched the exchange between the two, suddenly feeling nervous. "Maybe Major Ferretti is right, Colonel Simmons. I *should* check with Colonel O'Neill or General Hammond before I leave."
"Okay," Simmons shrugged. "If you don't want to clear yourself, that's fine."
"Clear myself?" Jonas asked.
"Yes," Simmons answered sweetly. "If you can establish that you were not at fault regarding Doctor Jackson's death, I'm sure I could get you clearance to leave this base. I understand you haven't been outside in the two months you've been here."
"Yeah. I kinda miss fresh air," Jonas nodded.
"Now you see," Simmons continued, "you come with me, clear everything up and you get a life here. I'll even arrange for you to live off base if you like."
Jonas' face brightened. "You can do that?"
"Oh yes. It's well within my authority." They both heard the klaxon sound, knew the 'gate was opening on the lower level. "And you'll even be able to travel to other worlds. Perhaps with a science team. Your expertise would be most valuable."
"I...I would be valuable?" Jonas was a bit shocked. Nobody had ever referred to him in that way.
"Oh yes, very much so," Simmons continued.
Something about Simmons' tone, coupled with the look on his face, gave Jonas pause. "Maybe I should think about it a little, talk it over with Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter."
"You need to think about getting out of here? Mister Quinn...Jonas...the people here don't appreciate you."
"They don't?"
"They couldn't," Simmons added, choosing his words carefully. "There are those in Washington, at the highest levels of government, that should hear what you have to say."
Jonas thought again, finally answering with a smile and an "Okay," picked up his notebooks and followed Simmons to the elevators.
The doors opened and Simmons was about to enter, but found his way blocked by Jack and Teal'c, both in fatigues.
"Hello Frank," Jack smirked. "Fancy meeting you here."
"O'Neill, I thought SG-1 was on another planet."
"We were, but we cut our vacation short." He smiled at Jonas. "Don't you have work to do?"
"Colonel Simmons says some people in Washington want to talk to me."
"Really?" Jack turned to Simmons, glaring at him. "Frank, who wants to talk to Jonas?"
"That's not your concern O'Neill. Now get out of my way."
Jack narrowed his eyes, while Teal'c gave Simmons an absolutely murderous look. "You know Frank, Teal'c and I are going to accompany you two to Washington. I figure once Jonas is finished, I can show him some of the sights. Teal'c here wants to see the Smithsonian."
Simmons' eyes moved from Jack to Teal'c, then to Jonas. "Sorry Mister Quinn, but our...meeting will have to wait for another time." He stepped into the elevator. "This isn't done yet O'Neill."
"Aww Frank," Jack sighed, "does this mean the honeymoon is over?" The doors began to close. "And it's Doctor Quinn - like the medicine woman!" The doors shut and Jack whirled on Jonas, any semblance of niceties gone. "You can thank Lou Ferretti for saving your ass. He contacted me when he learned you were leaving with Simmons. Do you know what could have happened to you?" He was getting angry. "How could you be so stupid as to leave without asking permission?"
"I don't understand," Jonas answered, backing up.
"Simmons works for the NID. You never would have made it to Washington."
"That's what Major Ferretti said."
"MajorFerretti is correct Jonas," Teal'c said.
Jack took a deep breath. "You didn't think that Ferretti would be telling you that if it wasn't true? And I gave you a direct order to stay on base until we got back!"
"I know but...."
Jack got right in Jonas' face. "No fucking buts!"
"I didn't know," Jonas said softly. "He's a colonel. You told me about the 'chain of command'."
"When I give you an order, the only person to override me is Hammond. Is that clear!"
Jonas lowered his eyes. "Yes...yes sir. Can I go back to my lab now sir?"
"Yeah, you do that."
As he turned away, Jonas felt his eyes welling with tears. He had disappointed Colonel O'Neill. All he had wanted, since arriving on Earth, was to have the Colonel's approval, to gain the forgiveness he so desperately craved over Daniel Jackson's death. Now he'd blown that. And there was something else also, something that was confusing him.
He had feelings for Jack O'Neill, deep feelings.
He didn't know where they came from, didn't know why he had them, only that they existed.
There was no longer any doubt in his mind...Jonas was in love with him and that love would never be reciprocated. When he got to his office, he closed the door, sat at the desk and let the tears fall.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Perhaps you were too harsh with him O'Neill," Teal'c said, watching Jonas walk down the hallway.
"He needs to learn to follow orders."
"DanielJackson would not have approved of the way you have been treating JonasQuinn."
"Daniel would have...."
Teal'c cut him off with a glare. "Daniel would be ashamed of your behavior."
Jack stared at his feet like a small child, knowing full well Teal'c was right.
"O'Neill...Jack...Jonas did not kill Daniel. You know this to be true." Teal'c paused letting his words sink in. "He has given up his life, his world for the Tau'ri. He is more alone here then even I was six years ago."
"Yeah, I guess he would be kind of alone, huh?"
"Loneliness can be alleviated by the company of another." Teal'c gave Jack a rare thing, a genuine smile. "Perhaps another...lonely person could use his company."
Jack returned the smile, albeit wanly. "Yeah, maybe he could. By the way, is it Doctor or Mister?"
"I believe the appropriate term for you would be...Jonas."
"Gotcha. You coming to get changed?"
"Only if you promise not to indulge in your...singing...in the shower."
"Can I whistle?"
"No."
"Hum?"
"No."
"You're no fun anymore," Jack laughed, as they headed to the locker room to change. He decided the mission would be postponed until Hammond returned. There was no way he was leaving Jonas alone again. The young alien was just too trusting. He finally made it to his office, groaning at the stack of paperwork waiting for him; it multiplied like rabbits when he was away. For a moment, he ignored the paperwork and began to think.
What would have happened if Lou hadn't been on base? That was simple. Jonas would have left with Simmons and probably ended up as some NID experiment. And it would have been Jack's fault. He so wanted to forgive Jonas for what happened with Daniel, knowing, as Teal'c, Sam and even Hammond had pointed out, that Jonas wasn't at fault. He knew full well that if Jonas had gone through that glass Daniel would have followed without hesitation.
But there was more to it then that, and deep down in his gut he knew what it was.
He was developing feelings for Jonas Quinn.
And he didn't know how much longer he could fight the internal battle raging within him. He didn't want to care about Jonas, but he couldn't help it. The innocence, the soft voice, the almost-constant smile no matter how much Jack yelled at him...they were all getting under his defenses. 'No,' he reasoned, 'he already got under them. And maybe someday I'll figure out how he did it.'
Jack finally managed to shake off the thoughts and dove into the paperwork.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Damn requisitions," Jack muttered as he finally finished the stack. "Everybody wants *something*." He put down the pen, rubbed his eyes and listened to his stomach growl. "I know, you want food." He headed for the commissary, not passing anyone this late at night. The only person there was Jonas, staring at his sandwich. He took a piece of pie and sat across from him. "You don't like it?"
Jonas looked up. "No, it's not that. I like it just fine." He quickly lowered his eyes, expecting to be yelled at again. "I'm not hungry anymore." He stood, leaving his tray and hurried out.
Jack quickly lost *his* appetite, left his pie and followed Jonas to his quarters. "Can I come in?"
"You're in charge," Jonas shrugged, sitting on the small sofa, turning on the TV. "You can go anywhere you want to."
"Jonas," Jack took a seat next to him, "I'm sorry."
"You yelled at me as if I were a child." He chewed on his inner cheek, refusing to let his tears come again.
"Look, Simmons would have taken you somewhere and we never would have found you. That's the way he works. And I should have told you about the NID. They tried to pull the same shit with Teal'c when he got here."
"I'm confused sir. You told me to obey the chain of command. That's all I was trying to do."
"Kid, you have a lot to learn about human beings. You can't trust everybody."
Jonas finally turned to Jack. "I trust you."
"Why?"
"I don't know. I just do."
Jack was taken aback at these words, spoken with such conviction, wondering how Jonas could feel that way towards him. He had done nothing but yell at Jonas in the short time Jonas had been at the SGC. "How would you like to get some pizza?"
Jonas seemed to brighten a bit. "I like pizza."
"Good. Get changed and we'll go."
"You mean I get to go outside?"
"Yes Jonas. Outside."
"Really?" Jonas' face split into the biggest grin Jack had ever laid eyes on.
And before Jack could stop himself, he was returning it. "Yeah, really."
Jonas didn't say a word as he changed into civilian clothing that Sam had brought him when he arrived at the SGC. He kept quiet when they reached the surface and he got into Jack's truck. His mouth opened in awe when he saw the mountains, and he made one brief comment about "one moon" before getting quiet again. Once they reached the pizza place however, Jonas began to talk...and talk...and talk until Jack couldn't keep up anymore and just sat there nodding.
Jack watched him put away one entire pepperoni pie, five cokes, and three slices of cheesecake. He also watched as Jonas, without trying, obtained all the waitress' phone numbers and an obscene offer involving chocolate syrup.
Too tired to drive all the way back to the Mountain, Jack took Jonas home for the night, getting him settled into the guest room before going to bed himself.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"H'lo?" Jack muttered, half-asleep.
"COLONEL O'NEILL!" General Hammond's voice bellowed through the receiver.
Jack sat up so quickly he slammed his head into the headboard. "Yes sir?" he answered, wincing from the pain.
"Where is Jonas Quinn?"
"In my spare room sir."
"I gave orders...."
"I know sir, but...."
"Don't interrupt me!"
"Uh sir, how did you find out?"
"Major Anders called and advised me."
'I'm gonna kill him,' Jack thought. Aloud, "Then you're still in DC?"
"Yes."
"Sir, I need to talk to...George, *not* the General."
"Okay, you've got him. Talk to me Jack."
"Frank Simmons came by to see Jonas. Gave him some story...it's not important. He tried to get Jonas off base. I kinda yelled at him and then I offered to take him out for pizza. He was so happy to be outside, I didn't have the heart to take him back."
"I'll be back tomorrow and I expect Jonas on base when I return."
"Sir, I can't have Jonas roaming the base by himself. And just why were you called to DC while I was offworld anyway? Not that Lou can't handle things but...."
"I intend to find that out. And since we're still Jack and George, let me ask...I'm not going to have to run interference with you and Jonas like I did with Daniel, am I?"
"No, you're not. Jonas and I are...friends; I'm just going to hang out with him. He's not...Teal'c said I should be nice to him. He said Daniel wouldn't have approved of the way I've been treating him."
"Teal'c is right," George sighed. "Jack, if anything happens to him...."
"I take full responsibility."
"I'll see you when I get back *Colonel*."
"Yes sir *General*." Jack hung up, but couldn't go back to sleep. He went to the guest room, sitting on the edge of the bed, watching Jonas sleep, thinking about what Teal'c had said, thinking about his own feelings.
Jack *was* lonely. He had nobody to take care of, something he enjoyed immensely. The only person who had known that was Daniel, because he had taken care of Daniel and Daniel had allowed it. He brushed the hair from Jonas' brow. 'Is that what I'm supposed to do? Take care of you?' Jonas rolled towards him, laying his head against Jack's leg, fidgeting in his sleep. "Shhh...." Jack began to rub his back and Jonas calmed.
"Sir?"
"Go back to sleep Jonas."
Jonas threw his arm over Jack's leg, snuggling close, snoring peacefully a moment later.
'Well, you got your answer, Jack.' He sat for a few more minutes before returning to his own bed.
And for some reason, his bed seemed emptier then it had before.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The morning went well, Jack introducing Jonas to Frosted Flakes and chocolate milk, the two having a calm conversation...until Jack mentioned taking Jonas back to the Mountain.
"I don't want to go back!"
"You have to Jonas." Jack had already received a call from Hammond asking where Jonas was.
"NO! Outside is nice. You can't take me back inside. Please Colonel, let me stay."
"I can't."
"Please don't lock me up again."
"I have to take you back."
Jonas caught his breath and began to pace. "Then send me back to Kelowna."
"You'll go to prison for treason. You know that."
"I don't care. At least in prison they'd let me go outside." Glancing out the window, Jonas saw the car pull up, the SF's get out. "You weren't even going to take me back yourself, were you?"
"Of course I was."
"Then why are *they* here?"
"I don't know, but I intend to find out." Jack opened the front door, Jonas behind him. "You stay here. Understand?" He went outside and Jonas saw him first talking, then arguing. Jack shoved one of the SF's against the car, looking quite angry and yelling some more. The men got back into the car and drove off, Jack coming back inside, fuming. He went straight to the phone, not saying a word.
"General, I promised I would bring Jonas back myself. Why did you send marines for him?"
"I didn't," Hammond replied.
"Well if you didn't then...the NID. They don't give up, do they?"
"Colonel...."
"Sir, what's going to happen the next time Jonas is on base by himself?"
"I don't know."
"I do," Jack spat. "Simmons will come back, probably in the middle of the night and remove him."
"What would you like me to do?"
Jack looked over at Jonas. "Let him stay here. No missions are scheduled and it'll give you some time to find out what's going on."
"You know more people then I do Jack."
"Maybe, but they're not in the direct chain-of-command."
"Alright. Just make sure nothing happens to him."
"You got it." Jack said, quickly adding "sir" before he hung up. He turned to Jonas, shrugging. "Obviously *they* were not from the SGC." He went back into the kitchen, Jonas following. "You get to stay."
"I do?"
"Until we make it clear to the NID that you are off-limits, you go nowhere without me, Teal'c or Carter. I'm not going to have you disappear into the void known as Area 51."
"Why do you care? I killed your best friend."
"Jonas, you can't kill anything. Griff told me he saw you removing all the mouse traps Siler set up."
"They're mice sir. They didn't hurt anybody."
"Exactly my point." Jack sat next to him. "Look kid, Daniel...even if you had jumped through, he would have followed right behind you."
"Maybe not."
"Yeah, he would have. And he's not dead. He's off, looking like a glowy squid. He'll be back when he learns what he needs to."
"How can you be so sure Colonel?"
"Because I know Daniel. Let's just leave it at that, okay?"
"Yes sir."
"It's *Jack* and since you're going to be here for...."
Jonas snatched up the remote control, switching channels. "How many channels do you get sir?"
"Over two hundred," Jack chuckled, quickly adding, "and I get two weather channels."
"Two?"
"Ya know, I bet that if you were to...fix it...I could probably get more."
"I did that on my dish on base. I get four cooking channels instead of two. I have a great recipe for Hungarian Goulash."
"We'll eat take-out."
"But the recipe is good," Jonas nodded quickly. "Teal'c liked it."
"Yeah and....? Teal'c eats purple stuff that moves when you touch it."
Jonas stared at his feet. "I'm sorry. I was only trying to be nice."
Jack took his chin in hand, lifting his face. "Hey, if you want to be nice, take the dog for a walk and pooper-scoop her."
"Pooper-scoop?"
An evil grin came over Jack's face as he handed Jonas the leash, a disposable glove and a plastic bag. As Jonas left with Molly, Jack sighed, pouring another cup of coffee. "What am I getting myself into?" He smiled to himself. "Teal'c knows. Damn, that Jaffa knows everything." He looked up. "Daniel, what am I going to do?"
'You're going to take care of him Jack,' his inner voice said. 'You're going to love him and learn to be happy again.'
"Yeah, I am," Jack answered aloud.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When Jonas returned, he was making faces and rubbing his back.
"You hurt yourself Jonas?"
"I don't know. I was playing with the dog and I slipped. I probably just need a hot shower."
"Ever had a massage?" It was an innocent question on Jack's part...until he realized what he'd asked.
"Uh, no sir."
"Better then a hot shower. Daniel used to like them."
"Did Doctor Jackson have back problems?"
"Er, no, but he liked them. He said they helped him relax. I think that's your problem. It was Daniel's also. You don't know the meaning of the word."
"Yes I do sir. It means to become less tense or reserved, loosen up, unbend, calm down...."
"I *know* that. Jonas, we have *got* to work on the sarcasm."
"Oh...subtle humor."
"Yeah, subtle humor. And a massage is guaranteed to make you feel better or your money back."
"Why not. Couldn't hurt."
"C'mon."
"Where?"
"Up to my room."
"Your room sir?"
"Yes, my room. I got some stuff up there to help you...loosen up."
"Okay." Jonas followed him upstairs, removed his shirt and lay on his stomach, while Jack rifled his medicine cabinet, finding some cherry-scented oil. 'Apropo flavor', he thought, as he walked over to the bed, looking Jonas over. He straddled Jonas' legs, pouring some oil on his back, gently massaged it in, starting mid-back and moved with slow outward strokes up to his shoulders, giving special attention to them.
Jonas began to purr like a kitten. "Mmm, that feels good Colonel...er, Jack. Where did you learn to do this?"
"Old colonel's secret," he replied with a smile.
By the time Jack had massaged all of Jonas' back, he was hard. His hands moved lower, caressing the edge of Jonas' buttocks.
"Jack?"
Jack lay atop him, whispering, "Shh, you said you trusted me." Shifting back to his knees, he slowly turned Jonas over, moving his eyes up and down Jonas' body, looking into his eyes, seeing what he needed to see. Reaching out, he pulled Jonas' face to his and kissed him, swirling his tongue in Jonas' mouth, which caused a deep moan. "I take it you liked that."
"Oh yeah."
"I take it being kissed by a man is something new." At the nod he got, he smiled. "I'd like to do it again." He didn't wait for an answer, giving Jonas another kiss. "I'd like to do more, if you'll let me." Jack kissed his way up to Jonas' ear. "I won't hurt you."
"I know."
Jack briefly wondered just what he had done to earn so much trust. "I'm going to take care of you. If you want me to stop or it becomes too much, just tell me. I don't want to force you into anything or cause you any pain." He pulled off his shirt, watching Jonas' palms come up, then hesitate midair. "You can touch me. It's been so long since anybody touched me." Jack took Jonas' arms by the wrists, guiding his hands up and down his chest. "Soft hands."
Jonas propped himself up, leaning in, licking at a nipple, Jack's hand carding in his hair, holding it still. His mouth was pushed to the other, suckling, hearing Jack's soft sighs.
Jack pulled him away, stealing another kiss, scooting off the bed, undoing his pants, which were pulled off and tossed aside, quickly followed by the boxers. He stood there for a moment, stroking himself, leering at Jonas, stilling Jonas' hands as they reached for his own pants. He sat beside him on the bed, undoing them, hand sliding inside, rubbing the hardness within. Slowly easing them off, he knelt between Jonas' legs. "Why don't I finish that massage now?"
He took the oil and poured some on his hands, warming it. Then he began a slow massage of Jonas' chest, bending down to suck on his nipples, first one than the other. Jonas was starting to thrust up, but Jack stopped him, their eyes meeting again, pupils dilated. "I told you to relax. There's no rush. Close your eyes and let the feeling move through you."
Jonas did this and he felt Jack's hands and mouth moving towards his cock and prepared himself. But Jack bypassed it and moved along the insides of his thighs, continuing to massage him with tongue and fingertips. Jonas was moaning loudly by this point, but Jack wasn't done with the slow torture yet. He continued massaging the inside of Jonas' thighs, finally moving his mouth over that sweet dick. He began by licking it from base to tip and back again, causing louder moans, which quickly turned into shouts as he swallowed Jonas to the root.
"Jack...need more...."
Jack reluctantly lifted his head. "Whatever you want." He rolled Jonas over on his stomach and poured more oil onto his hands. He began to massage the cheeks, gently spreading them, slipping one finger inside, feeling Jonas tense up. "Shhh. It'll be okay. If you want me to stop just tell me."
When all he got was another purr, he slipped another finger in, then a third, gently pushing in and out, scissoring, until Jonas was pushing back at him. He was enjoying himself, feeling his dick growing harder, watching his body move forward on its own. He slicked himself, palms resting on Jonas' cheeks, spreading him, the head slowly pushing its way in.
"It...it hurts."
"I know Jonas, give it a moment and I swear to you, the pain goes away."
"Don't...."
Jack stilled himself, halfway there, fighting the urge to push in all the way. "Hey, you said you trusted me."
"I do."
"Then trust me now."
"I will Jack." Jonas felt himself stretched further as Jack entered, wanting to scream 'NO!' wanting to tell Jack to stop again. But he did trust Jack...he had to. The hands began to rub his back, lips on his neck, voice in his ear, whispering filthy words and phrases. His body was relaxing, accepting the feelings, listening intently. Jack bit his shoulder at the same moment he shoved in hard, the feeling so intense Jonas' vision blurred. "Do that again."
"Prostate, Jonas." Jack angled just right, hitting the same spot, Jonas' head lolling backwards, eyelids fluttering. "Take it easy. You're going to pass out."
"Ahhh...OHHHGODDDDD!"
"I'm going to pull you to your knees," Jack murmured. "It might hurt a bit." Taking Jonas by the hips, Jack slowly edged him up, hearing the groan. "Hush...gonna take it slow again." He gently moved in and out a few times until Jonas was moving with him, letting himself go, watching himself sliding in and out. He moved his hand around, taking hold of Jonas' dick, stroking slowly and softly, in contrast with his thrusts. He picked up the pace, leaning down to whisper, "Come for me," grasping Jonas harder, jerking him faster.
Jonas grew dizzy, coming harder then he thought possible...he was going to pass out and he knew it.
"Ahhh fuck," Jack panted, "I'm coming...."
Jack hit Jonas' prostate again as he came, feeling Jonas grow limp, holding him steady as he gave in to his orgasm. Slowly moving out, he rolled Jonas onto his back, smiling at the unconscious man. 'Damn I'm good,' he thought. He got a cloth, wiping them both down, placing a towel on the wet spot. Jonas was still out cold, so Jack just pulled him close, looking at the clock, stifling a yawn. 'Not even noon and I need a nap. I'm getting old.'
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Jack woke up at two, Jonas curled against him. He had forgotten what it was like to wake up with someone beside him, stroking a finger along Jonas' face, hearing the soft moaning. He quietly got out of bed to get a drink, made a call to the General and went back up to wake Jonas. He leaned in to steal a kiss, pulling back, watching Jonas' eyes open, a smile greeting him. "Sleep good?" Jonas nodded, ducking his head. "What's the matter?"
"I...I wanted to tell you before, but I forgot."
"Tell me what?" Jack pulled Jonas up and into his arms.
"I love you. I'm in love with you. I thought you should know."
"Oh, I see."
"I know you don't feel the same, but it's okay." Jonas pushed away from him. "I'm ready to go back now."
"Back to where?"
"The Mountain."
"Why do you want to go back?"
"I have to."
"Who says?"
"General Hammond."
"Jonas, I spoke with the General and we've made a decision."
"I have to go back to Kelowna, don't I?"
"Jonas...."
"It's okay sir. I've heard prison food isn't too bad."
"Jonas...."
"I'll survive."
"JONAS SHUT UP FOR A MINUTE, WOULD YA?!"
"Okay sir."
Jack was chuckling. "You get to stay here, with me."
"For how long Colonel?"
"You call me Colonel in the bedroom and I swear...it's *Jack*. Remember that."
"How long?"
"Forever, if you want."
Jonas swallowed hard, trying to stop his tears, and, as usual, failing.
"Jonas, why are you crying?" Jack held him, rubbing his back, soothing him.
"You want me to stay here?"
"Oh yeah. You already made it into my heart, so you might as well stay in my house." Jonas blinked at him, obviously confused. "You're not the only one who feels this love stuff."
"*You* love *me*?"
"Isn't that what I just said? Now please, stop crying."
"Okay," Jonas sniffled, tears slowly subsiding. "How did you get permission for me to stay?"
"General Hammond and I feel that you need to learn more about Earth, since it's now your home. It was either me or Sam and I won." Jack grinned at him, wiping the last of his tears away.
"Does the General know about what happened?"
"George knows all, just like a certain Jaffa." Jack put his hand up as Jonas opened his mouth. "Don't ask."
"What about your policy of 'don't ask, don't tell'?"
"Nobody asked and I'm not telling. At least not yet."
"Can we do it again?"
"What?"
"Uh...make love?"
Jack slowly kissed his way down Jonas' body. "I thought you'd never ask...."

Epilogue:
"It's about time Jack," Daniel muttered, watching the two. "I thought it would take you forever to figure it out."
"Daniel?"
"Jack's not alone anymore."
"I believe your people have a saying...I told you so."
"Why Oma Desala, you've become sarcastic," Daniel snickered. "They *are* going to be okay, aren't they?"
"You need not worry about the...NID, nor Colonel Simmons. He will...get his, in due time. Jack O'Neill and Jonas Quinn will be fine."
*Now* Daniel was ready to leave, the guilt of his own departure finally easing. Jonas and Jack would take care of each other; two lost souls, both filled with immense guilt over the same thing, both ready to begin to heal. Daniel had had visions; he knew that he would return soon. He had foreseen Jack's death, knew it was a prediction of things to come, yet he also knew it was only one *possible* future. This meant he could change things, he just knew it. He just didn't know *how*...not yet. He also knew there was a battle coming, that he and Jonas would fight side-by-side against an evil force. Daniel actually giggled, thinking how Anubis sounded like a warped version of the 'Emperor' from 'Star Wars'.
"Daniel?"
